USA Vs China Trade Insights with Mexico & Canada

Lions are roaring on each other. China on Friday imposed 125 per cent retaliatory tariff on US imports. After retaliation by imposing the tariff as per Newton’s Third Law “Every Action has its opposite reaction. After slapping the United States with 125 Per Cent Tariffs, China said it will not respond to any tariffs imposed by the United States, according to BBC. China also said that its ‘abnormally high tariffs’ imposed by United State President Donald Trump ‘Seriously violates international and economic trade rules, basic economic laws and common sense and is completely unilateral bullying and coercion’. China further said that Trump’s Tariffs ‘have become a numbers game with no practical significance in economics’ and are proof of his ‘bullying and coercion’. Chinese ecommerce Ministry also said in a statement that ‘it will become a joke’.

AMERICA SHOULD BE IN THE SOFT CORNOR!

Nearly half of the U.S Trade is depending on the three nations namely China, Maxico & Canada. Mexico has emerged as the top exporter to the United States due to United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) earlier China was on top of the table in 2023.  In this new trade war Trump has targeted China; the main reason is may be because of the hesitations are being in his mind for being No-1 in the world. He is trying to do everything for “Making America Great Again” a slogan was also made by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during visit to the White House in the month of Feb 2025 i.e. “Making India Great Again”. He told MAGA + MIGA = Mega. The said slogan was got effected even all over the world. USA WITH ITS NEIGHBORING COUNTRIES

1. Canada. Canada is the northern neighbor of the United States and shares the longest international border in the world. This border stretches over 5,525 miles and is marked by diverse landscapes, from rugged mountains to expansive forests. The relationship between the United States and Canada is characterized by strong economic ties, cultural exchanges, and a shared commitment to democracy and human rights.       Canada is the second-largest country in the world by land area. The border between the United States and Canada runs through various terrains, including plains, rivers, and lakes, such as the St. Lawrence River and Lake Superior.

(a)       Latest Conflicts with USA.           US & Canada, who were once close allies, are now roaring on each other due to tariff imposed by US President. Canada and the United States are the only two countries in the world, that share the longest border of almost nine thousand kilometres and the countries have considered themselves as the closest allies. After a few tariffs and disagreements over trade agreements Canada PM Justin Trudeau raised his voice against tariffs by the US President Donald Trump.

(b)       Tariff War between US Canada.  US President Trump imposed 25% of tariff and the threats to Annex Canada make the 51st state of the United States.
Mark Carney, who recently took over as Canada Prime Minister from Justin Trudeau said over Trump’s tariffs, “The economies and military co-operation with USA is over”. From the time of election campaign, Trump has been talking about annexing Canada and making it the 51st state of the United States.

2. Mexico. Mexico and the United States have a complex history, with war in the 1840s and American acquisition of more than 50% of former Mexican territory, including Texas, Arizona, California and New Mexico.  The two nations share a maritime and land border. Several treaties have also been concluded between them bilaterally in 1994 & 2019. Both the countries are the member of various international Organisations.  the U.S.’s national security and international trade. The U.S. and Mexico are each other’s largest trading partner as of 2023. Both the countries are demographically connected. However, Mexico was not involved in “War on Terror” and leave the Inter “American Treaty of Reciprocal Assistance”

Present Status.       US has imposed tariffs of more than 20 per cent on most imports of tomatoes from Mexico, citing “unfairly priced”. Mexico is the biggest source of American farms. The accusation by US producers that Mexican were selling tomatoes at artificially reduced prices is unfounded and it’s important that the two countries reach an agreement, Mexico’ Approx 60% of the total tomatoes are consumed by USA only.

Conclusion

These are the main things which are important in terms of USA perspective. Importing needs from China, Canada & Mexico shows how USA also leaning towards them. We can imagine the difficulties which are facing by the consumer and the businessmen. Doesn’t matter, from where the consumer & businessmen belong to. They can be from both side, what if this export suddenly got disturbed.
